Facts about Indian Education

1. Education was kept in the purview of the charity commissioner, and the powers that framed our constitution decreed that only charitable trusts can run schools: you know why? because education is not just about giving your child a label, but about imparting knowledge, values and sense of self respect and dignity. They foresaw 60 years ago that if they allowed schools to be run as a business then it may get misused, and the most vulnerable section of our society namely children would stand to get exploited. Now it is still not just about keep the child safe you know, it is also to ensure that the country benefits since the future of the nation depends upon what we teach children today.

2. Commercialization of education is punishable by jail, it is a non –bailable offence. Profiteering is not permitted; there is a limit of 5% surplus funds that can be generated towards development etc, but nothing more than that.

3. Under anti capitation act, donations is illegal, and it is not permitted to charge even one rupee more than what the government prescribes.

4. Any child that joins an institution has the right to complete her education from this institute – no one has the right to force her out of it.

  1. Dear All,

I write this as a parent and teacher too. It is the students who brings glory to school and not otherwise. I find that parents are taking undue interest in school activity. Vibgyor is not a monopoly. If it charges more it will close down in few years unless it gives quality education.

Best alternative is to start a better school for kids like Adhishree. I am ready to write a small donation for the same.

Do not waste energy and money fighting in Supreme Court. There are many kids who do not
get basic education. We can use money better.

    God Bless
